OK, here it is another Preview.

Today I want show you the new way for add and automatically import information from internet: the Internal WebBrowser.

What you must do is only to select a script from the grid and XMM will automatically navigate in the web. In the image you can see an example of IMDB, I want add "The Matrix" movie to my collectio, so I browse until I found the right IMDB webpage.

Now I have two options:

1)Add the movie to my database and import information from web

2)Add the movie to Database and import information after, with batch import

This new feature will help you add quickly movies, espacially if you want add "Wanted" movies, because you can navigate in internet and add movies istantly to database.

So, write your suggestions and impressions!

@Alessio

Maybe a stupid question:
Is there a way to grab info with the internal browser from websites that were blocking MagicScript technology at the moment?

Bye bye

Hi,

I haven't test this yet, but I think yes, because the problem (if I remember correctly) was the "Search" of the correct movie webpage (I mean the #WEBQUERY# string).

In this case XMM will process the webpage that you browse, so you have already the HTML.

Anyway, I must make some tests for be sure.

Bye!

Dear Alessio,
If you need help in designing the new database, you can always use amdb as database template, it's very good designed, without redundancy.

I am glad to see you working on this & I have great hopes that it indeed will be more "user friendly".

1) I would like to see ability to select which columns show in "grid view". So that I can elimate the columns which are meaningless to me and order the columns as I wish. So that important columns are to the left side, and non-important ones gone, and less important to the right, in the order I wish.

2) I would like a more friendly view in the "total movie listed" panel, without the arrows with subviews of movies. Instead the alility to list a few items exactly as I wish (a custom cateogry, for me the field where I place each movies location in a fild system and the movie title, with ablity to easy sort by either catagory without sudden changeds in the appearance of this field (those very very annoying and useless arror symbols).

Hi Ian,

Both of your request are already implemented in 5.0

The grid is column-sortable, you can hide columns and re-ordering it.

The "TreeView" now display only categories, so no more movies (and arrows here).

I hope to post screenshot this week about the new layout of the main window.

I am near to complete the work around movies, I must now implement TV Series and Actors.

Hi to all,

Here again another Preview. This time I want show some image of the new MagicScript Editor.

This time the Editor is inside XMM and will share the same tecnology.

The Script Engine has new instructions and functions, one of the most important is the "Options" (every user can quickly change settings of the script without edit it).

The number of "variables" is up to 79, there are 5 new "WEBSLOTS" (webpages that you can download one time and use it in the whole script, will be more clear when I will release the modified IMDB script of third generation), this will speed the import-process with less KB downloaded.

In this first screenshot you can see the Editor. At right there are the Variables with instant values, the BreakPoints and , at center, the script.

Here you can see the "DirectLink", that now is inside the editor.

Here there is the WebPage downloaded by script, so you can better see the text processed by engine.

Hi Alessio,

This new XMM version locks great, I can't wait to try it... :)

But I have some suggestion...
I have already suggested this, but was very long time ago... :p

Well, the XMM database, at this moment, only has the "title" and the "original title" field. My suggestion is for the "translated title" of the movie, this will have an international importance for the XMM, because most of the countries translate the title, and will be good to have a field were we can have this.

At the moment, I use a "custom field" in my script to do this, and then manually copy the title for "title" field... if the new "translated title" field can't be added, please add the possibility of the magic script can change the "title" field...

Sorry for poor English,
Hope you understand all I write ;)

Keep this great work Alessio,
Best Regards,
Pedro Baltarejo

Hi Pedro,

I have already add this function in the new ScriptEngine, the ability to directly import the movie-title, so I will not add a new field.

Thank you!

I love .Net programing. y. For anyone who didnt know there is a .Net framework for unix called Mono and of course the compact framework for PocketPC's. it will be great to be able to carry XMM with me in my pocket.

XMM runs correctly in the Windows Media Center Operating System.

Also the new release 5.0 will run in all Microsoft OS.

Thank you,

Alessio

Hi,

Welcome to the Fifth Techpreview of new XMM. I hope to release the first alpha really soon.

I have complete the work around the new ScriptEngine (that now import Movies, TV Series and Actors in the same "way").

Here you can see the screenshot of the Main Window that is deeply changed from 4.8

In the first image you can see the Movie Tab. Now all movies are in the Grid, the tree at left has only "Groups". All moviecards you see are only for tests, new moviecards will be written.

http://www.binaryworks.it/extrememoviemanager/images/dotnetpreview/preview13.jpg

In this image you can see the "Quick Edit Mode", wher you can change movie info without open the Edit Window

http://www.binaryworks.it/extrememoviemanager/images/dotnetpreview/preview12.jpg

In the Third image you can see the new TV Serie support. Now Serie's title are stored in the tree at left, the Episodes in the Center Grid. All Episodes infomartions are imported DIRECTLY from internet with MagicScript, so you must enter ONLY the Serie's Title, XMM will do the rest

http://www.binaryworks.it/extrememoviemanager/images/dotnetpreview/preview11.jpg

In the last Screenshot you can see the Actor's window, now will be more easy and quick navigate in the database and Import Informations with the "Batch Import" mode.

http://www.binaryworks.it/extrememoviemanager/images/dotnetpreview/preview10.jpg

OK, it's all for now. The Alpha tests will start soon, you will found it in the registered user's area.

Write me impression and suggestions!

this looks really great, cant wait to try the alpha :)

just one question: have you considered an option to hide the tree (or also the other "tabs") when you dont need it/them?
i personally will have my movies sorted alphabetically most of the time and you could win some space for the grid and the moviecard/quick edit tabs. this could be useful especially for people with rather small monitors (so no very big prob for me :) )
