Hi,
I have upload the second alpha just now in the Registered user's Area.
This is only an ALPHA release, this means that is made for TEST Purpose ONLY!
There are much functions disabled, bugs to fix and moviecards to be build, but you can start to see the new ScriptEngine at work, the batch import mode etc...
Please write me bugs, suggestions and critics.

Installed everything needed :)
It opened fine, looks nice to me.
Tried to import a dvd but it doesn't read *.ifo files ?
I could read a *.vob file though.
When importing from imdb, well lets say I hope I don't have to select what movie I want to dl because I always fill in the weblink and id before I start downloading.
I do get errors (seen in the bottom of the screen) like this;
-21472188Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status, if available. No work was done.
There were more errors but they dissapeared to fast for me to read..
Also tried to open my old database (a copy) but that crashed it all ;) Had to try it.. |

2) feature request
- shortcut key for buttons in MagicScript. Example: [FIXED]
ALT+R = Execute Script
ALT+E = Execute Script Step-by-Step
ALT+P = Pause
ALT+S = Stop
ALT+N = Execute next intruction (it would be great)
or something similar to that
3) cosmetic feature
- a horizontal ruler of screen adjustment

I haven't finish the Codec Engine, so do not read IFO files yet.
The OLD database is not compatible, I will do a conversion tool in few days.

when adding a movie I always fill in the imdb link and ID.
So when running the import script it uses that info for importing
But now when I use a script I have to select the movie by hand.
I don't wanna do that, I want it to use the info I gave it (ID and weblink) :)
Also when scanning for movie in my HD it only finds mpg, mpeg and avi, that's correct ?
One thing I also noticed is that the program itself isn't to fast ...

I will try to see what I can do with ID, because the import procedure is changed a bit (Directlink selection and Batch import).
About Speed: I must optimize the code, at this time what is really slow is the MovieCard's writing (I have made some tests and without it the software is really quick in loading informations).

I have forget: The File Extension will be selectable in the configuration window, for now if you want you can edit manually in the window registry, the key is:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\eXtremeMovieManager\FileExtension
PS: Today I have fix some bugs and made new improvements, tomorrow (or monday) I will release another alpha. |

thank you for the alpha alessio!!!
iīve found some things:
1. would it be possible to use the mousewheel beeing over one of the panels directly? now we first have to click on the panel first (but itīs only cosmetic)[DONE]
2. will there be visible grid in the grid panel?[DONE]
3. the panel positions and the fullscreen of EMM are not saved ... after restarting i have to setup everything again...[FIXED]
4. could we use the mouse wheel to scroll through the fields selection for the grid?
5. what do you think about placing the alphabetic order horizontally near the actor tab?
6. will there be a global search option to search in movies and series at once?
7. i donīt see the catalogNO field
8. are the coloured rows planned? it would be great in the new grid
9. a quick-search bar right to the buttons would be nice
ok thatīs all for the first ;)

Hi guys,
I am uploading the Alpha 2, I have fix some bugs that you post here yesteday, so I have decided to put it online so you can always make tests with latest release.
@Cortexwave:
1.I will take a look if I can do something
2.I can make an options to show grid, should not be a problem
3.I have change something in the alpha 2, should work correctly now.
4.I think no, because the mouse wheel is drived by .NET directly and I don't know if I can use it
5.Can be an idea, I will think to this.
6.Yes, there will be, but I haven't make it yet.
7.The Catalog N° is stored in the Media ID field now.
8.I think isn't possible in the grid that I am using, but maybe I must only search better
9.Should not be hardo to do, I will try. (You mean in the main toolbar, right?) |

hi alessio hi all,
here some things i found in the new alpha 2:
1. the mymovies section: if i try to rightclick on something in the tree-panel i see possiblities to edit the movie which is selected in the grid ... a bug? [FIXED]
2. if i open a movie to edit it and try to import information again for a movie; for example Amelie (from the demo database); after the import the last movie in the grid in the edit window ;) [FIXED]
3. if i set title to be imported through the imdb script ... it does not work .. no title is imported[FIXED]
4. mediaID is not displayed in the grid (catalogNO)[FIXED]

hi,
some heavy testing done here.. ;)
some bugs i noticed:
1. the cancel buttons seem not to work as intended. i opened the dialog box "new database" and
clicked on cancel, but the program created a new database and opened it. same thing with the
manual cover import: add cover -> cancel: irfan view opened and a dialog box "image taken"
appeared [FIXED]
2. "5startIndex cannot be larger than length of string. Parameter name: startIndex"
dont know exactly what that means :)
3. the alphabetically sorting in the tree view is missing a "v" :) [FIXED]
some other questions/suggestions:
4. why is there a rating field for the film in the dvd/vhs tab and a possibility for personal
rating under the cover display? isnt this the same or am i thinking wrong? btw, it would be nice
to have a slider like the one for personal rating also for the video and audio rating :)
5. is there a possibility to make another custom field (say custom10) as big as custom11?
i would like to import movie mistakes and trivia from the web but in different fields so i can
access them seperately in moviecards (or you could do dedicated fields for that ;) )[DONE, now Custom 9-10 is bigger, I will see if I can also make special fields for that]
6. is there a possibility to add a variable to a script to tell it whether to take the "normal"
title of a movie or the original title for web import? i personally use a chain that imports
(with the german title) first the original title and the german plot from ofdb and then
takes the rest from imdb, but imdb is easier to use with the original title.. so in 4.8 i had
to let the ofdb script take the org. title and then i switched to "use original title for
web import" and import the rest from imdb, it would be great to just do that in one chain..
so much for now.. will test more tomorrow ;)

Hi Alessio!
After a busy weekend I found only tomorrow morning time to install the new alpha version. Let's fire away some very first impressions and suggestions:
- Documentation: Where I can find an updated MagicScript documentation? What are the new features, commands etc.?[I haven't write it yet]
- Don't forget the language localisation[Yes, I will do it]
- icon bar: icons should all have the same size; don't like the look of the treeview/panel icons (most of all the frame around) and they are confusing me (icon and corresponding text suggest a two-fold mainview whereas we have a three-fold view); please more icons for essential operations (the icons from 4.8 are not too bad for that)[The icons in the toolbar are only temporary, I must change it and make all of same size. If you have a good icon please send it!]
- Tools /Advanced Functions /utility & Plugins dropdown menues: here I'm missing a clearer and more systematic structuring. In xMM 4.8 the script editor was placed under "tools" now under "advanced functions". Why? [It's a temporary structure, feel free to write me your suggestions for these menues]
- Data fields: I'm missing the series field for movies as I used it very often for movie series (naked gun, alien, "hannibal-lecter-movies" etc.); colour&b/w is reduced now, maybe b/w should be markable as "colour" is generally the default value, or better: selection colour/b&w/colorized/colour&b/w/3D; Features field is to small; multi-entry fields like features field, audio formats, media language and subtitle should be more comfortably operated (see therefore DVD-Profiler)
- I see a need of combined view/search/filtering for movies and series, a kind of trimmed-down "media view". Why? Because looking at my movie collection I have many series based on movies (like Naked Gun/Police Squad, Mr. Bean etc.)which are both in my collection mostly stored together in a common dvd-box.
-WWW-import: I don't like the selection of script options (0 and 1 are not so "sexy" (at most for a programmer  )and clear than a checkmark; also in batch import; I can't find the counterpart of script chains in the new version. Is this feature implemented at the moment (If yes: how does it work in detail?)[The script options are in number because you can have more than two, I mean 0,1,2,3 etc... About chain: I haven't make the manager yet, but the engine is ready (because you can select more that one script also now)]
-Grid: Cover display doesn't work (not implemented in alpha?)[FIXED], look of media icons is inferior compared to xMM 4.8

Found a bug...
I just install the eXMM 5.0 and, without open a database, i select "my tv series", it appears several series, I click in "Lost" and it appear a message saying that the serie was no longer in the database, and the eXMM crashed...

Sorry, my mistake, I mean that I have work on the #STARDELETETAGS# and I have fix the problem today, but I haven't release the alpha 3 yet. In future I will write better the release.
Tomorrow I will upload it, so you can use the latest release for make tests.
