Has anyone been able to figure out why "incompatible Database" message occurs after fresh installation. I have gone through all the forums and tried all suggestions with no success.
I have Vista Ultimate 32 bit system with 400 GB in raid setup. IT has all the latest service pack update.
Things I have tried: - Uninstalled and removed all references from registry. Reinstalled as administrator - Unintalled reinstalled with Virus scanning software turned off -Installed new copies of all .net packages no success - Enable .net authorization in control panel programs settings - set properties to read write to entire directory for extreme Movie Manager data storage - Installed Visual Studio 2008 with hopes that maybe some server drivers would be installed that were missing to allow the program to work. - installed older version of Movie Manager - Tried to create new database once in the program - Set properties to program to run in Administrator Mode and under Windows XP , Windows Server. Neither worked.
I would love to use this program but with these issues I cant even get the database to load.
This error occurs when initializing
First I get "This Database is NOT Compatible!" in Error Loading Database dialog box. After I click OK the next dialog box I receive is "91Object reference not set to an object." in the eXtreme Movie Manager dialog box.

Hi Ringlord!
I really don't know what to suggest, seem that you have already try everything!
I will upload a new release this morning, I will add new error messages to better understand at what point you receive the error message. Please write me back when you have install the new release. In one hour should be online.
Thank you,
Alessio |

Hi Ringlord,
The position of your database is quite strange "C:\Users\Jerzysobski\Documents\My New Database.mdb",
The database should be under the "extreme movie manager\databases\" subfolder, I mean;
"C:\Users\Jerzysobski\Documents\eXtreme Movie Manager\Databases\My New Database.mdb"
Please let me know if you have this folder in your PC: "C:\Users\Jerzysobski\Documents\eXtreme Movie Manager\"

When I start the program I also get the message "Database is NOT compatible!" There are suggestions in this forum which I've tried but failed.
In total I did the following:
- Renamed my database, so that I have a backup of my database and XMM would create a new one.
Result: XMM created a new database but still says: "Database Not Compatible" (so the new/fresh created database is not compatible )
- Backed up my database folder, and uninstalled XMM.
Removed the total XMM folder from the "Program Files" Folder. Removed the total XMM folder from the "My documents" folder. Removed all registry entries connected to XMM Reinstalled XMM So this is a fresh install with a new database. Result: Still get the message "Database is not compatible"
- Uninstalled XMM
Removed the directories again. Removed .net 1.1 Removed .net 2.0 Removed .net 3.0 Used 'dotnetfx_cleanup_tool' to really clean .net installation Installed ms .net 3.5, this installs .net 1.1 and 2.0 sp1 and 3.0 sp1 Reinstalled XMM Result: Still "Database not compatible"
- Uninstalled and Reinstalled ms office 2003, in the hope that there was a driver or dll issue, but this did not solve the problem.
- 4/7 uninstalled XMM, Removed XMM folder in 'My Documents'
Installed the newest version 6.2.5.0 Result: This Database is NOT Compatible! -Error point: 2
- 11/7 uninstalled XMM, Removed XMM folder in 'My Documents'
Installed version 6.2.6.0 Result: This Database is NOT Compatible! -Error point: 2 E:\Documents and Settings\Rob\My Documents\eXtreme Movie Manager\Database\Example.mdb
I did all this logged in with an administrator account. My PC runs on windows xp sp3. System Folder: C:\Windows Programs Folder: D:\Programs Users Folder: E:\Documents and Settings\.....
Anny suggestions what I can to to tackle this problem?
Tanks

I do have the Folder "C:\Users\Jerzysobski\Documents\eXtreme Movie Manager" (This is a cut and paste so it is exact)
This is what the error message I listed is what it is giving me. Can it be possible that a variable is not being initialized properly?
I have even checked the database foler inside "C:\Users\Jerzysobski\Documents\eXtreme Movie Manager\" and it contains the sample database.

Tried some new things. Went and told it to create a Database in "C:\"
This generated a error and told me to Email Binary Works with the code "F3"
I went and deleted the new database created in "C:\"
Ran the program again. This generated a error that "C:\My New Database" not found"
Clicked ok and received this new error: --------------------------------------------------
This Database is NOT Compatible!
- Error point: 42
C:\Users\Jerzysobski\Documents\eXtreme Movie Manager\\databases\example.mdb"
---------------------------------------------------
Notice that the second time the folder and subfolders all list. but also take a look the double backslash that is placed between "eXtreme Movie Manager" folder and "databases" folder.
I dont know if that would cause any issues or not. But it is the only spot I see double back slash in the folder address/ |

Hi Guys,
Thanks to your report I know now that the problem is related to the ADODB.DLL file in the XMM exe folder.
Seem that in your PC this DLL is not registered and/or do not work as it should.
I am trying to find a solution.
If you want make some tests for me please write me an email, I will send to you EXE and DLL files.
Thank you again,

Yes there seems to be an issue with adodb.dll or something. Probably because of a corrupted mdac installation. (different dll versions at different places and/or not registred etc)
I used this to repair my mdac installation: http://www.macropool.com/en/download/mdac_xp_sp2.html
This solved the problem (at least for me)
Note: it says it is to repair mdac for xp sp2. For me it worked and I have sp3... |

I did not have to do step 4 as all the files necessary were already on my disk. I just had to browse to them as shown in step 3. |

When I go to the FAQ the information is truncated on my end. Can someone cut and paste the steps in response pose. The area for the incompatible database faq that shows up for me is:
-------------------------------------------------------- - I Receive a "Database not compatible Error", what should I do? If you receive this Error Message from XMM probably your ADODB.DLL File is corrupted. Please try to follow these steps in order to reactivate the DLL (

The Solution is only good if you have a XP operating system. It will not work with VISTA. Vista does not use MDAC instead it now uses WDAC. Vista will not allow MDAC to be installed. In the middle the install it give a message that item being installed is incompatible and exits out of the install. Even when run under admin the same message occurs.
I then started to do some research and it turns out with Visto operating system they switch over to WDAC which is an equivelant. I have included a link with a discussion on this topic.
http://www.vistax64.com/vista-general/57418-re-vista-mdac.html
Is there any other solutions? Really would love to use the program but as of right now I am not able to.
Fromn the programming end you may want to check out this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318559 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/840667/
