The fix you posted in FAQ was not working for me. So after some googling around i ended up with fix from http://www.screechmedia.com/scriptbd/mdac_repair.asp. Actually this helped! :) I did not read the license and stuff but this really repairs the MDAC under XP PRO SP3, thats my setup. Should also work with SP2.
I hope this helps someone. |

Thank you,

Sorry i don't know how but i remember that i downloaded it from there. So after i checked the page again i found this: http://www.screechmedia.com/scriptbd/troubleshooting.asp There you can find all the stuff about repairing the mdac. The repair tool is in Step 1. Sorry again for that bad link. Hope thisone helps.
oO i tested the link and it's not working. It should be: http://www.screechmedia.com/scriptbd/troubleshooting.asp (exchange scriptbd with abd) What the hell?? /scriptbd/ should be abd also in / /.
When i put it in insert http tag it changes itself. Why cant i post abd between / /??? xD
Also the link: http://www.screechmedia.com/scriptbd/mdac_repair.asp works with that abd. |

These fixes do not work on the Vista operating system. Microsoft switched to WDAC and any fixes that you try to do to MDAC a messager appears in windows saying that it is incompatible.
While downloading several programs in an attempt to fix MDAC my system became corrupt either by a virus or from trying to attempt to fix MDAC. It even wiped out my recovery files preventing me from going back to an earlier system date.
I had to reformat my whole hard drive and reinstall everything. This fixed my problem with Extreme Movie Manager.

to Ringlord: I never said that it works on Vista. The talk was only about XP with SP2 or SP3!
For Others: FIX DON'T WORK UNDER VISTA!!!

Hi Guys,
I haven't understand why in some VISTA installation (also fresh installations) XMM doesn't work. I know that is related to ADODB.DLL, but only sometimes doesn't work.
I will try to find a solution, but it's hard because I cannot reproduce the error on my PC.

Working fine on Vista 64bit until I installed and then uninstalled Acronis True Image and then I had the same problems as detailed above. Used System Restore to go back before the Acronis installation and everything working fine again. I don't know if this is of any help but look forward to a 'fix' as I've got over 1200 movies in my database and I'm worried that this problem could reappear in the future |

Hi,
Maybe when you uninstall the software Acronis True Image it delete some DLL to manage databases. It's the only explanation I have in mind.
Alessio
Hi all,
If you guy's haven't figure it out yet the problem is caused by missing entry's in the registry. Most probably done by Reg Cleaners. I just had this problem and it was easily solve by restoring the registry.
I'm gonna send you that Movie Card now Alessio totally forgot about it ;D |

I also have the error
This database is NOT compatible
- Error point: 42
C:\Users\Public\eXtreme Movie Manager\Databases\Movies.mdb
2147467259.[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager]Data source name not found and no default driver specified
Then I get
91Object reference not set to an object.
I have tried all of the other suggestions here.
Some things I would like to know though....
1.People have mentioned registry entries may be missing....any idea what they are - I would be happy to manually add them if it made my program work.
2. Its also mentioned that adodb.dll may not be registered correctly...when I try to re register it I get the following
The module "C:\(path to dll)" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found.
Make Sure "C:\(path to dll)" is a valid dll or OCX and try again.
3. Is it possible to just manually create the data source? eg. add in the ODBC settings manually? Seems to me this shouldnt be hard.
Along with what else has been tried here I have also run System File Checker which came up with no errors, dumped Acronis True Image and rolled back the system restore.
Also - if anyone has a good link on how to force a rebuild of Windows DAC this may help. It can be done easy with MDAC 2.8 and according to the MSDN posts I read they are almost identical functionally.....
Any help would be great as I have been looking for an application like this for a long while now and I am very keen to start populating my database.

I had this same problem on my laptop (vista ultimate, 32 bit Sp1) but mysteriously the application worked without a hitch on my desktop (vista business, 32 bit sp1). I have been looking forward to using this application for almost half a year now (i had corresponded with Alessio Viti regarding import from All My Movies and was elated when the feature finally made it to version 6.5) and I tried everything mentioned here to make sure it worked on my laptop to no avail ... that is until i fired up process explorer from sysinternals.
The solution to this string of errors is simply deleting a registry key! I noticed that on the laptop the Exe was accessing the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ODBC\ODBC.INI\Engines\Jet however the desktop (the working one) was not accessing the same key. So i figured it might work by deleting the whole key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ODBC\ODBC.INI\Engines
viola! that sorted out the problem and i now have eXtreme Movie Manager working perfectly on both machines. I hope this will be a help to all the Vista Users out there who have been unable to use this great App!

Shortly after updating to 7.0.5.2 (on my Windows x64 Vista Ultimate), I received this error:
This Database is NOT Compatible!
-Error point: 423
U:\My New Database.mdb
-2147467259.Unrecognized database format 'U:\My New Database.mdb'.
The error codes don't match any of the ones above, nor do the solutions work (which I tried after making a complete copy of the .mdb and folders). Somebody PLEASE tell me I don't have to start over (again--hence the db name). I was over 2500 titles...
Anyone else have this problem?
