First of all, THANK YOU for "Personal Rating Sorting", "#CHECKACTOREXIST#" and "Search in all fields for Episode Search" updates!

My question is;

I got so many duplicate actors! I want a clean start since you updated magic script. I want to delete all actors from the database, but I'm afraid something might go wrong.
For example, would that action also delete the actor names from the movie fields or just from the "ACTORS" panel?

Also after I delete all actors, how can I restore my actors?

Thanks,
Erke

Hi!

You are welcome!

About the Actors, I am trying to make a function to delete duplicates, but it should be "intelligent" and delete the items with less informations and leave it the one with pictures etc...

If you delete all actors from database it will NOT delete the actor names from movie field. And this is the big problem.

I can suggest this right now:

1.make a backup of database and subfolders :-)

2.select all movies -> multiple changes -> clear actors field

3.go in tools menu -> collection maintenance ->clear all actors from database

4.go in the subfolder "_photos" and delete all pictures of actors

5.re-import all movies, use directly the batch import function

This procedure will import all actors again, with all pictures, but not the duplicates.

Of course remeber to make a backup before try this solution

let me know,

Alessio

The function you are talking about, would be just the perfect and awsome thing...

I got a lot of movies, so batch import would take a lot of time...

So at this point I rather wait with excitement for this function.

Thanks again,
Erke

Any progress on the function you were telling? I think it will be one of the most important features of XMM, when it's ready!

Here's a quick question;

In the "Starring" field, there is an "ID" column for the actor, what is it for? Does it have an essential function, if so, will they be updated with the feature you're working on? I mean, after the duplicate actors are deleted.

I got 18310 actors waiting to be cleaned =) I'm sure nearly half of them are duplicates. Can't wait to see how it will effect the speed of my database!!! =D

Good luck with your work,

Erke
