Hi Guys,

The eXtreme Music Manager is under heavy development, I have write some part of the engine.

At beginning XMusicM will manage MP3 collections, and in future all kind of music.

The main goal is import MP3 informations from internet, but not only TAGS, I want build an engine also for Lyrics. It's really not easy, but we must do that

I ask your help, especially ideas and suggestion for the interface, so please feel free to write your ideas and post also images (CortexWave, you know what I mean )

Thank you!

Alessio

Hi Alessio!

This is a very, very good news.
You need suggestions? Ok, here we go. I've tested almost every music managing program on the market so I can give you a description of "my" perfect program.
<brainstorming>
1.XMusicM will only manage MP3 collections at the beginning, but I hope that the program will be able to manage also AudioCD (or vinyl etc.) in future. Therefore the database should have a suitable structure. The best I've found in another program is that of Music Library (http://www.wensoftware.com/MusicLibrary/), almost perfect (!) even for classical music,Two Main views with MP3 explorer and audio explorer. Please take a look at this competitor. Most music managers are good in mp3 managing or audioCD managing but not in both!
2. XMusicM shouldn't have one of these "pseudo-cool" interfaces. When you have to manage many CDs and thousands of mp3 the interface should be functional and clearly arranged; maby skinable, but not more.
3.Tag&Rename: see features and interface of Tag&Rename (www.softpointer.com
4.Duplicate Finder
5. Classical music collection support - classical data fields such as composer, conductor, orchestras.
6. Playlist generator - Creates playlists for MP3s or audio tracks.
7. Support of FreeDB (www.freedb.org)online/offline, Musicbrainz (http://www.musicbrainz.org), All Music Guide (http://www.allmusic.com/), CDDB if possible (as I know CDDB doesn't allow FreeDB-support).
8. mp3 analysis/repair, e.g. encoder recognition like Encspot (http://www.musicbrainz.org- please see also here:
http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?showtopic=20713&
http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?showtopic=11785&; mp3 test like here: http://www.shivi.de/MP3Test/, http://www.geocities.com/mp3utility/
<brainstorming>

So that's all for the moment. Feel free to hire me for beta testing.

Bye Mawu

Hi Alessio,

Pretty much the same than with extreme Movie Manager.
There are many nice audio programs around at the moment, but no convincing all-in-one solution. My "link collection" is only intended as an inspiration (and some programs I refer to are under GPL licence with means that the source code is avialable).

Bye

O.K. here is a first "layout" proposal:

It's a mixture off several different music managers. It's based on the extreme Movie Manager layout (which I like). Only the windows on the right side differ because of flexibility reasons (they should be customizable ... please see the xMM wish list). It has the advantage that you haven't reinvent the wheel and all your programs will have a kind of corporate design. The most important thing is the structure of your database. Most mp3-databases only manage the files on the track-level. With my proposal (similar to Wensoftware Music Library) there is an additional "album level" (very good to manage also ordinary audio cds, vinyl.. which is imho very very important) and an artist database (like the actors's database in xMM). When you like it I will go on with more details (and feature proposals).

Ciao

Hmmm... @Mawu - how do you name ur Files ? I started with "Tracknumber - Artist - Title" .... later I changed to "Artist - Title" - all other Infos are in the ID3 Tags ... like Number, Album, Genre etc.
Hope thereŽll be a chance to manage this.
Greets Jesse
P.S. Alessio : Something new ?

@Jesse
The picture is only a painting not an existing program(and it only shows the album managment part of it)
I ordered my mp3 in the following way:
Artist - Year - Album/Artist - Tracknumber - Title
Artist - Year - Album CD#/Artist - Tracknumber - Title (for Albums >1CD)
VA - Year - Album CD#/Tracknumber - Artist - Title (for samplers)

Artist-Title I don't like, because I want to have the tracks in the right order (as it is on the original album)
"Artist - Tracknumber - Title" is imho the best compromise between information content (from time to time a friend wants to have a single track out of a album, therefore "Tracknumber-Title" is too short) and File Lenght (therefore I leave out the album title in the track filename). All other information are stored in the ID3-Tags (Title, Artist, Album, Year, Genre, Track # in ##/## format, Disc #, Composer if available, lyrics if available, label and in the comment the name of the encoder) or in separate files in the album folder (covers, playlists, cuesheets etc.).

bye Mawu

@Alessio - sounds really Great !
But - what should it be ? A Database or an all in one wondermachine ?
For extracting nothing (I mean so - its no bad meaning - damn english - hope u understand) can shake hands with EAC. Audio CD Burning is nice - but who needs that ? Everyone with a Burner will have a Software ... Editing Tags ? Hundreds of good (or not so good products are there). Playing Music - Foobar or Winamp or or or ...
The ASE sounds great - like the Print Function too ...

I think the mainjob will be to manage large collections ...

Ok, thats just my meaning ...

Maybe youŽll find a way to get all ur wishes in that Soft .. but maybe you get a "Schnittstelle" - damn wie heisst das auf English ?) to get it work with other Products ... Idea - To ectract MP3s / Wavs etc. uŽll give a Command to start EAC .. and so on.

Many Greets
Jesse
(haett ich doch in der Schule was besser aufgepasst - sorry für dieses verranzte Englisch)
