Dear Forum,
We recently purchased XMM and are trying to streamline our workflow.
We have over 19,000 titles in various locations which we are now rebuilding a single index/collection.
Challenges we face are
1) Inital File and Folder Names 2) Correctly identifiying the Movie with an online source 3) Using XMM to find (most quickly) titles which have been imported but not yet "tied/linked" with the Metadata from an Online source
So step by step we descibe what we are doing and if anyone has tips or tricks please let us know..
Step 1: We have one big NAS and are sortng 1000 titles per folder. like Folder A = 1000 films, Folder B = 1000 films etc..
Step 2: Renaming - Today we have over 10 different lanuages of the files but the majority are English/Japanese/Chineese
- ATK 3 XXX [DVDRip][Amateur-Teens][www.xxxxxx.com] - ????????party - 40_Something_XXXtra_4_Clip01.avi
(the ???? are asian letters - which we will need when indexing the metadata via a script on an Asian "DVD" site)
We are using FileBoss v2.5 to help with some of the bulk renaming
Step 3: Once renaming is nearly 75% then we open XMM and begin to "Add Movies" by Scan Drives -
- Not always does the "Join selected files to ONE movie" work so we the need to clean the imported for Duplicates
Step 4: Update "Metadata" aka Box Covers etc
Now we start the task of matching the films with an online script - Becuase we have films from several countries we need to use many scripts - (None yet for Asian movies we found - but have great source)
Once we find 85% of the films and link them we need to easily find a way to sort the films "Without Metadata in a list" and also films that are "Not linked"
Step 5: Re-Encode and Re-Link to original source
After this process we then "Re-Encode" each film to a new common codec/format and re-check the links to films
-------------------------
If you have any tips on any of these tasks to make it easier, better then please let us know
Thanks, Mike T |
