Is it possible to have a script copy the url of a poster link to a custom field?

No, I am sorry. Scripts can be used only to import info from internet.

Maybe I have misunderstood...
I think the "pirat" means to add the link to the poster like for the trailers instead of the poster itself. And that can be done by a script.
Change TakePoster to TakeCustomXX in any script.
In order to achieve what is possible, you have to try the impossible over and over again.
