Why do covers that I have already entered sometime disappear or others appear in their place.

This is really becoming a problem. I have over 8,000 titles in my collection and it is a never ending problem.

Only Ale can tell. I haven't recognized that problem.
But I can imagine that this problem is related to a special char in a movie name that confuses XMM. Did you have accidently recognized any error message in the status bar?
In order to achieve what is possible, you have to try the impossible over and over again.

Or: Do you use the service utilities "Delete Holes in DB" and "Remove Covers not related to a movie"?
